When is it safe to remove eSIMs from my device?

At ORA, you cannot manually remove eSIM plans from your dashboard, this ensures you always have the option to top up any plan whenever you need data. Deleting an eSIM only clears it from your device’s storage; the plan remains visible in your dashboard for future activation.

Only delete an eSIM from your phone when one of the following applies:

1. 🚫 You’re Done with That Plan

  • You no longer need data in that region and don’t plan to top it up again.

  • Note: Even after deleting on-device, the plan stays in your ORA dashboard. If you ever need it again, you’ll have to purchase a Replacement Card (if the provider supports it) to reinstall before topping up.

2. 🔄 You’ve Installed a Replacement Card on a New Device

  • Certain providers (e.g., 3HK) offer a Replacement Card that allows you to move the same plan to another phone.

  • Steps:

    1. Buy the Replacement Card from “My eSIM Portfolio” in your ORA dashboard.

    2. Install its QR code on your new device—your plan will reactivate.

    3. After confirming the Replacement eSIM is active, delete the original profile from your old phone.

  • The plan itself remains listed in your dashboard for future top-ups or additional Replacements.

3. 📤 You Need to Free Up a Slot for a Brand-New ORA Plan

  • If your device has reached its eSIM capacity and you want to install a completely different ORA plan (new provider or broader region), delete the old profile from your phone to free up that slot.

  • Reminder: Deleting on-device means you can’t reinstall that plan without buying a Replacement Card first.

💡 Planning Tip: Choose Broader Coverage Plans

  • Since deleting a plan from your phone forces you to buy a Replacement Card before reusing it, consider purchasing a plan that covers multiple destinations.

  • By selecting a multi-region or global eSIM plan up front, you can reduce the total number of profiles in your dashboard and minimize the need for Replacements later.
