When can I install my ORA eSIM?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

We recommend installing your ORA eSIM one day before travel. By the time you land, you’ll be ready to go. Follow the simple steps below:

How It Works ⚙️

📅 Install your ORA eSIM one day before travel

  • Open the email or ORA account page containing your QR code.

  • Install the eSIM using our Installation Guide:

    • Option A (Scan): Point your phone’s camera at the QR code. When the prompt appears, tap Install. 📱

    • Option B (Tap directly): If you’re viewing the QR code on the device you’ll travel with, simply tap the image. When prompted, tap Install.

  • After installation, you’ll see a new cellular plan listed under Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data). The plan will be named after the ORA partner provider you selected (for example, “3HK...” or “Ubigi...”).

🔧 Check Your Data Roaming Settings

  • Enable Data Roaming for Your ORA Plan

    1. Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).

    2. Find the newly installed plan by its provider name (e.g., “3HK...” or “Ubigi...”).

    3. Tap that plan and ensure Data Roaming is turned ON for this profile.

  • Disable Data Roaming for Any Existing Prepaid eSIM

    1. If you have an older prepaid or local eSIM still installed, locate its provider name under Settings → Cellular(or Mobile Data).

    2. Tap that profile and confirm Data Roaming is turned OFF.

  • By doing this, when you land, only your ORA-backed provider plan will activate and start using data, no accidental charges on your previous SIM.

✈️ Travel to Your Destination Country

  • Keep your phone powered on (Wi-Fi is fine) while you’re en route.

  • Do not turn on Cellular Data or Data Roaming for any other eSIM profiles.

🌐 Enable Data Roaming Once You Land—and You’re Connected

  • No additional setup is needed. With roaming enabled on your ORA provider plan and disabled on any other profiles, the ORA plan will activate automatically within seconds of arrival.

  • Enjoy instant, reliable data, no physical SIM swaps or manual plan activations needed.
