How to Install the ORA eSIM on Your iOS Device (Manual Installation)

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you prefer or need to install your ORA eSIM manually—without contacting support—our dashboard will display all the required SM-DP+ and activation details. Follow the steps below:

1. 🔑 Retrieve SM-DP+ & Activation Code

  1. Log In to your ORA account at orasim.io.

  2. Go to “My eSIM Portfolio” and tap the plan you want to install.

  3. Switch to the “Installation” tab.

  4. Under “Manual Install,” you’ll see:

    • SM-DP+ Address

    • Activation Code

    • Confirmation Code (if required; often shown as “— not used —”)

Copy or note these values, you’ll paste them into your iPhone momentarily.

2. ⚙️ Open Your iPhone Settings

  1. On your iPhone home screen, tap Settings.

  2. Select Cellular (it may also be labeled “Mobile Service” on some iOS versions).

  3. Tap Add eSIM.

    • Your existing physical SIM (Primary SIM) will remain active.

  4. On the “Set Up Cellular” screen, choose Use QR Code even though we’ll enter details manually.

  5. Tap Enter Details Manually at the bottom of the screen.

  6. Paste the SM-DP+ Address into the first field.

  7. Paste the Activation Code into the second field.

  8. Leave Confirmation Code blank (unless your plan shows a specific code).

  9. Tap Next. iOS will automatically download and configure your ORA eSIM profile. This may take a minute.

  10. Follow any on-screen prompts (for example, “Add Cellular Plan”).

  11. When prompted to choose your default lines:

    1. Default Voice Line: Select your existing physical SIM.

    2. Mobile Data: Select the newly installed ORA eSIM (it displays by its provider name, such as “3HK eSIM” or “Ubigi Global eSIM”).

  12. Tap Done once the setup finishes.

3. ✈️ Enable Data Roaming Before Departure

  1. Return to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).

  2. Tap your ORA eSIM profile and switch Data Roaming ON.

  3. Ensure Data Roaming is OFF for any other SIM/eSIM to avoid accidental charges.
