What happens when I run out of data on my eSIM?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Even if your data is fully consumed or the validity date has passed, you can always top up your plan to restore connectivity.

Here’s how it works:

🔄 1. How to Regain Connectivity

  • Top Up Your eSIM 💳

    1. Go to “My eSIM Portfolio” in your ORA dashboard.

    2. Click “Top-Up” next to the plan that needs more data.

    3. Choose a refill package and complete payment, your data balance updates instantly, and a new validity window begins based on the top-up package’s terms.

2. Top-Ups Reset Both Data and Validity

  • Data Depleted Before Expiry:

    • If you run out of data before the original expiry date, simply top up. This adds new data and refreshes your validity window to the top-up package’s period.

  • Plan Expired (Date Passed):

    • Even after the plan’s original validity window ends, you can still purchase a Top-Up for that same eSIM.

    • Once topped up, you receive a fresh data allowance and a new validity period based on the top-up package, no need for a new plan or Replacement Card.

🎯 3. Tips to Manage Your Plan

  • Monitor Usage:

    • Check your remaining data in “My eSIM Portfolio” regularly so you know when to top up.

  • Choose the Right Package:

    • Select a top-up that covers both your data needs and desired validity length.

  • Top Up Ahead of Time:

    • If your trip or project extends longer than expected, top up before you lose all data to avoid any connectivity gaps.
