Your ORA eSIM data package begins counting down the moment you scan or activate the QR code, but it only becomes usable once you connect to a local network (typically after landing).
Here’s how it works:
📥 Scan or Tap the QR Code to Activate
As soon as you scan/tap your ORA QR code on your device, the data plan’s validity period (e.g., 30 days, 90 days) starts immediately—even if you’re still on Wi-Fi or before you travel.
Make sure to scan only when you’re ready to begin using that plan’s window.
✈️ Usability Upon First Network Connection
Although the countdown starts on QR activation, your eSIM won’t actually register on any network until you land at your destination with Data Roaming turned on.
At that point, the plan becomes fully active and you can browse, stream, or call (if your plan includes voice/SMS).
🔍 Check “Technical Specifications” for Plan Details
Each ORA plan lists its exact activation window (how many days after QR scan you must use it) and expiration date under “Technical Specifications” on the plan’s detail page.
Always refer there if you’re unsure about timing, validity, or expiry.
⏳ Recommended Timing
Scan your QR code no more than a day before travel so the plan’s countdown aligns with your trip. This ensures you don’t waste days while still at home.
In Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data), turn Data Roaming ON for your ORA eSIM and make sure roaming is OFF for any other SIMs before you leave. That way, the moment you land, your ORA eSIM can register on the local network.
✅ Verify & Start Using
After landing, open a simple webpage or app to confirm connectivity.
If pages load immediately, your eSIM is fully active and you’re good to go.
