How do I convert my SIM to an eSIM?

Updated over 2 months ago

Converting a physical SIM to an eSIM usually requires you to contact your mobile network provider so they can move your number onto an eSIM profile and deactivate your old SIM.

With ORA, you don’t need to deactivate your existing SIM, instead, you can keep it active and simply add an ORA eSIM for data when you travel.

Here’s how it works:

  • Log in to your ORA dashboard, select a data plan, and complete checkout, your eSIM QR code arrives in your email or account.

  • One day before your trip, open the QR code on the device you’ll travel with (tap or scan) and tap Install when prompted, no extra menu steps needed.

  • Confirm the new eSIM appears under Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data) by its provider name (e.g., “3HK eSIM”).

  • In Settings → Cellular, turn Data Roaming ON for the ORA eSIM (make sure roaming is OFF for any other SIMs).

  • Your ORA plan will auto-activate upon landing, no further action required. 🎉
