How long does an eSIM take to activate?

Updated over 2 months ago

Your ORA eSIM activates instantly upon landing, provided you’ve already installed the profile and enabled Data Roaming before your trip.

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. ✈️ Automatic Activation on Touchdown

    • As soon as your device connects to the local network, your ORA eSIM plan kicks in, no manual steps required.

    • You’ll see a signal icon (e.g., 4G/5G) within a few seconds, confirming you’re online.

  2. Recommended “First Test”

    • Right after landing, open a simple webpage or app (like your email or a weather site) to verify connectivity.

    • If pages load or messages sync immediately, your eSIM is active and ready.

  3. Potential Delays

    • In rare cases (network congestion or very remote locations), registration can take up to 1–2 minutes.

    • If you don’t get a signal within a couple of minutes, try toggling Airplane Mode ON → OFF once to force a quick reconnection.

Tip: Make sure you installed your ORA eSIM at least one day before travel and kept Data Roaming ON for the ORA profile. This gives your device time to download and prep the plan, so when you land, activation is truly instantaneous. 😊
